The Classic Club golf course became an instant classic in the Palm Springs golf mecca when it opened in 2006. This Troon-managed Arnold Palmer design in Palm Desert has been a fixture on Golf Advisor s list of the Top Courses in California and it has also appeared multiple times on Golf Advisor s list of the Top 25 Courses for Layout in the U.S. The Classic Club golf course earned its championship stripes right away when it hosted the PGA Tour s Bob Hope Desert Classic from 2006 to 2008. It s a beautiful, well-conditioned playing field with elevated tee boxes that showcase panoramic mountain vistas and long views of the Coachella Valley. You won t find any palm trees, just pine trees, on this traditional layout that features 30 acres of lakes that add charm and intimidation as they come into play on fourteen holes. Palmer Design created a layout that is a magnet for skilled players who enjoy trying to master its numerous forced carries over water, its deep bunkers, and its large, undulating putting surfaces. Wind is the x-factor, and when it is strong, as it often is early in the year, the course can be a brute. At its max distance, The Classic Club golf course measures a full 7,322 yards. Thankfully, four other sets of markers, the shortest of which is 4,219 yards, mitigate some of the forced carries and make the course a fun and manageable test for golfers of wide-ranging abilities. The Classic Club layout has some large distances between greens and tees, so while walking is permitted, it is not a recommended option. Practice facilities at the club are exceptional. You ll find a two-tiered, double-sided driving range, two short games areas, and a large putting green. The Classic Club boasts a renovated Tuscan-village-style clubhouse with a full-service pro shop, ample facilities for special events and banquets, an award-winning restaurant, and outdoor seating overlooking lakes and waterfalls. The Classic Club golf course is an upscale tee-time option in Palm Desert that provides excellent value and a memorable day of golf.
