With incredible mountain views, elevated tees and a terrific layout by architect Casey O'Callaghan, the golf course at Hidden Valley Country Club is one of the best public experiences in the Inland Valley and Riverside area. The course, which can play nearly 6,900 yards, from the tips, has five sets of tees, starting at just under 4,700 yards so every level of player can enjoy it. The contrast of this green layout against the rugged backdrop of rocks, mountains and arroyos is stunning. From the back tees, golfers will have to carry over canyons and ravines to find fairways, while golfers can choose to play the course more on the ground from the forward tees since there are no forced carries there. The no. 1 handicap hole, for example, is the 467-yard, par-4 ninth, which requires a long carry over the natural area off the back tees, but not the front tees. Considered a good value with moderate green fees for the quality of the course, Hidden Valley Golf Club has become a favorite since its opening in 1997. In addition to the golf course, Hidden Valley also has excellent practice facilities that include a full driving range, short-game area and putting green. The facility also offers instruction. And the golf shop in the club house has a vast selection of merchandise, including the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. Also in the clubhouse is where you will find the Villa Amalfi Restaurant, which is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Offerings include daily specials, which feature fresh fish and soups. Reservations are recommended on Fridays and Saturdays.
