Known for its good greens, affordability and playability, San Ramon Golf Club is a favorite among public golf courses in the Tri Valley area. This is a course that really does set up for all levels of players. With four sets of tees, ranging from 4,798 yards to 6,526 yards, San Ramon Golf Club has a yardage for all levels of players. First opened in 1946 and designed by Clark Glasson, the course features a wide variety of holes. The two that end each nine are among the most memorable however, as a large lake comes into play for both. The short par-4 ninth features an island green, while the 18th, which plays just under 400 yards from the back tees, has water right in front of the green, making the approach all carry there as well. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 429-yard dogleg right fourth hole. And the layout has a nice variety of par-3 holes, which range from 167 yards to 218 yards from the tips. San Ramon Golf Club also features great practice facilities that include a full range, short-game area and two practice putting greens. The facility also has several instructors for anyone interested in private lessons that range from full swing to chipping to putting. And inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop that offers the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. San Ramon Golf Club, which sells snacks and beverages, is also a popular spot for weddings and other special events.
